Fortunately his owner wasn't very safety conscious, and left a needle and thread under her bed so he managed to stitch himself back up in a haphazard manner.

Fortunately (as seems to happen every year), the tanker drivers were on strike, so there was no petrol (or diesel!!!) readily available for such an act of cruelty.
